Zuka hardly ever talks to anybody, so I don't know tons about her, except for what happened at this year's magic show. Seems like every year we gather in the gym for some stupid permance. One of the acts cuts a girl in half of course, and Zuka was picked out of the crowd by her homeroom teacher. Bad idea. She's not happy even getting up in front of the class, so she had to be pushed up on stage by her classmates. (Because I'm not that tall, I could only see what they were streaming up on the gym's video screen.) On stage was the magic box contraption only partially painted. Wasn't in the budget I guess. Zuka wouldn't look at the audience, so finally they just lifted her into it so that she was facing front with her arms out and legs forward. They closed all the compartments. Like I said, the thing was cheap and way too deep where the saw blade was supposed to go. "Wiggle your hands," they told her, which she wouldn't do. Then the magician's assistant, Ms. Tanaka, reached for Zuka's shoes, and Zuka started thrashing and pleading with her teacher. Ms. Tanaka had a hard time getting them off, but once she did we realized why: the bottoms of Zuka's feet were filthy! That twist made the audience gasp. Ms. Tanaka waved her hand in front of her face and made a big show of holding her nose. It was just a joke, but Zuka must've started crying. Ms. Tanaka slipped her shoes back on, and they tried to continue. But as they were "sawing", one of Zuka's shoes fell off again, and the cameraman zoomed way in on her raw toes! Really, was that necessary? It all went downhill from there. It was SO obvious the saw didn't go down all the way, and a few people booed. We got yelled at, and they closed the curtains. At least we got out of class for it.
