A little weird girl that used to be Kit's neighbor. She's a people-pleaser - a social chameleon - and she seems to be in a perpetual identity crisis, frequently droppin' long drawlin' syllables like those of a southern belle, sometimes adopting an Elizabethan cadence, and other times yet still equipping on a French accent, even though she doesn't know a lick of the language (she reads 'baguette' as 'bagwetty'). It doesn't appear to be something she does consciously. First impressions of Nora tend to be thusly varied, but once she feels comfortable with someone, her character begins to normalize. About Kit... "Yes, I still recall the first time I saw him. I'd gotten into the elevator and been pushed to the back before I could press the button for my floor, and I felt so helpless- because I was going to have to ride all the way to the top before I could go back down. I said, weakly: 'Floor Seven, please?' but I was so hurt by the idea of what I figured my fate to be that I barely heard myself. And yet: Kit - he heard me and pressed the '7'. I was saved. He's a true gentleman." About Lucy... "Lucy is very good to me, but I feel conflicted about her. I love her, and I have developed the impression that she loves me, but I understand that she also loves Kit, and that may yet be a point of quarrel between us, for I must insist that I love him more than she could. It's tragic, truly: that I could be so close to one who might well be my own nemesis." About Ben... "He is a delightful young boy - very humorous - but he is quite... dirty. Not in the louche sense, but merely the... dirt-y sense. He chased me with a frog once - for forty minutes. I admit it was a cute frog, but I did not want to touch it." About her mom... And when she had to go onstage, her fellows would babysit the phone. She would send me recordings of her performances. Some find it distancing, but I am glad for it; it allows me to feel that an aspect of her survives in me. I tell myself she is merely on a long tour in some foreign country... About Luminance... "I greatly like Luminance. She is very well-read. I have spoken to her of the plays I have seen in which my mother acted, and Luminance has known most. She has even seen a few recordings of my mother. I came quite close to tears when she praised her portrayals. To become aware that someone who affected you has had a greater influence than perhaps you had first understood..." About Starlight... "I would believe Starlight if she told me we were actually siblings- or cousins- or anyhow related. She speaks in a way that is like a maturation of my own current manner - or so I would say optimistically, hoping that, some day I might achieve her wit. The effortlessness with which she strings such beautiful syllables into one another is quite breathtaking." About Billi... "Ironically, while though having so comparatively pedestrian a name, Billi shines brighter than any of the Echoes; than anyone ever, potentially. He is a divine light." About Kasia... "I think of her as like my opposite. She is very short when she speaks, but very graceful when she moves. I should like very much to experience the world from her perspective for a day." About Ultimum Recursum... "Every time I think of them, I am distracted by the abnormally high ratio of U's in their name in comparison to that of other vowels.
