What got improved? Well, heart pupil in her eye, also improved dude graphics ( they are no longer just flat color ) added face animation ( so the Shira is not just emotion less ) added some tweaks for the pose and animations ( primary hands )

You don't really have to learn animations specificly in Koikatsu, the same technology applies everywhere else, Blender, Unity, Unreal Engine, they all use the same techniques, in case of Koikatsu we have Unity-like Timeline ( cuz KK is made in Unity ) and we usually use IK ( Inverse Kinematics ) to animate... the same thing exists for example in blender...
